Licensing research · QUICK REFERENCE

What a licence number can establish

A licence number is an identifier to investigate. For a research file, compare it with the issuing authority's own register and record the named holder, stated activities and displayed status. Preserve the result with a date because a bare number copied into a review hides the context needed to interpret it.

A practical checklist

  1. Find the issuing authority independently.
  2. Compare the exact identifier and holder.
  3. Save the register entry and observed date.

Putting it in context

If the number exists but names a different entity, the research question remains open. Do not treat the existence of any matching digits as verification of the website.

Keep in mind

A register match alone does not answer every question about local eligibility or consumer protection.
